City Heights E-ACT Academy is a new secondary school that is delivering an excellent 21st century education to local children and for the wider community in Tulse Hill and North Streatham. The academy will grow year on year so that by 2020, there will be up to 180 students in each year group in Years 7-11 and a sixth form of 200 students.
City Heights E-ACT Academy offers a broad and wide-ranging curriculum, providing individual pathways for all students to learn and progress, whether that is to university, college, apprenticeships or employment.
The academy is focused on developing happy, enthusiastic and independent students who show grit, resilience, curiosity and a determination to succeed: building character alongside knowledge and wisdom.
City Heights has a formal partnership with Dulwich College, and the two schools have a shared belief in the importance of setting their students high expectations from the moment that they start, so that young people apply grit and determination to their studies, helping them achieve their ambitions.
The curriculum ensures that the most able students study an academically rigorous curriculum, providing them with qualifications that will not only secure places at the top universities, but develop and instill a lifelong love of learning. There is also support for students who need to work on their literacy, numeracy and wider learning skills to establish a firm foundation to access and succeed in other subjects across the curriculum.
City Heights’ specialism is Modern Foreign Languages and there is a strong focus on Spanish, with students of all abilities offered the opportunity to engage with languages at an appropriate level for them.
Students also benefit from a brand new school building, creating a superb learning environment and excellent facilities for sport, dance, design and technology, science, music, art and pottery.
"My son has been with City Heights since it opened in Year 7 and I can undoubtedly say that sending my son to City Heights E-ACT Academy has been the best decision we ever made. He has grown in confidence and is determined to succeed in everything that he does. As a parent I feel so comfortable and happy that my son is happy in school and that is all down to the hard work by Mr Henderson and his fantastic team."
