Parkwood E-ACT Academy’s vision is to become a world-class academy, placing a keen focus on developing social enterprise. The academy is forward-thinking in its approach, successful in its delivery, and ambitious for its future.
Listed as one of the Government’s top 100 most improved schools for pupil progress in 2013, at Parkwood, staff are determined that students succeed and leave as confident, articulate and aspirational young people, fully equipped for life and work in the 21st century.
The academy has extremely high expectations for students and staff have created an environment in which each individual is supported and challenged to achieve their full potential, both inside and outside the classroom. At the heart of everything are the core values of knowledge, leadership, growth and diversity: these run through all aspects of Academy life and are a central part of students’ experiences at Parkwood.
Parkwood has a joint specialism in languages and sport, with opportunities in both disciplines greatly enhanced. Both permeate the academy and are used to help improve students successes across all areas of the curriculum. Further, a significant number of students achieve a Level 2 qualification in a modern language by Year 9, and the Sport Leadership Academy at Parkwood is recognised throughout Sheffield as an outstanding example of how young people can take on leadership roles and achieve great things as a result.
“2012 saw Parkwood E-ACT Academy celebrate its best ever GCSE results. 83% of students achieved 5 or more A* - C grades with 47% achieving these grades including English and maths, a phenomenal increase of 17 percentage points”.
