The winners of the E-ACT short film competition 2011
Students from E-ACT academies across England were invited to shoot, produce and edit a short film on the subject of: “my academy”.
The E-ACT short film competition 2011 – which was open to all students to produce a three-minute film reflecting the life and vibrancy of their academy - has attracted budding filmmakers from across England, all competing to win a top of the range Apple i-pad.
The winner
After a robust review by the judges, this year’s winning entry - chosen by a panel including leading independent film-maker Irshad Ashraf - was Ismail Kaya's film about Parkwood Academy, Sheffield.
His entry stood out with an original concept and innovative use of editing, and it demonstrated that Parkwood Academy is a place where talent is recognised and nurtured. Along with the top prize, Ismail will also receive the short film competition trophy.
The runner-up
The competition's runner-up is the Oldham Academy North's Personal Enrichment Programme. Students produced a group entry which impressed the judges with great shots of the academy’s PEP activities and their portrayal of the Oldham Academy North as a vibrant institution where students feel nurtured and encouraged. The academy will receive a top of the range HD film camera.
All of the remaining entries received, were Highly Commended on the recommendation of the judges, which included E-ACT’s Director General Sir Bruce Liddington.
