EACT chosen as sponsor of new Lambeth academy

Dec 22, 2009

LAMBETH council in London has chosen EACT to sponsor a new academy in the Borough.

EACT was endorsed by members of the council’s cabinet after being identified in a report as the preferred choice following a selection process.

The new academy will be built on a site on Christ Church Road, which is currently occupied by a primary school. The primary school will be rebuilt and co-located with the new academy building.

The academy will be co-educational serving about 1100 students. It will also become a key facility for the community providing a range of extended services and acting as a community hub.

EACT Director General, Sir Bruce Liddington, welcomed Lambeth council’s decision. He said: “We have demonstrated a strong record of achievement in delivering new academies and new academy buildings. The Lambeth academy will prove to be a significant asset for the community as well as providing a high achieving centre of educational excellence for students in the Borough.”
