How’s that! New cricket gear for academies

May 13, 2010

E-ACT has successfully bid for cricketing equipment worth hundreds of pounds for a number of academies.

As the cricket season gets into full swing, the equipment has been provided by the Lord’s Taverners - a charity founded in and based upon cricket, that helps young people, particularly those who may be disadvantaged, to enjoy cricket and other sporting and leisure activities.

The first bag of equipment including bats, pads, gloves and helmets was delivered to Heartlands Academy, in Birmingham, which specializes in sport.

Rachel Buckingham, the academy’s Community Director said: “Cricket is important both in the curriculum and as an extracurricular activity too. We are always delighted to receive extra equipment which helps to increase the take up of the game.”

Heartlands Principal, Ms Glynis Jones, thanked E-ACT for organising the delivery and is now working closely with E-ACT to attract additional funding and resources to support the academy.
