Academy artists present their work in London
TWELVE students from Leeds West Academy presented a selection of their finest work at E-ACT’s London office.
E-ACT Chairman, Dr Noorzaman Rashid, welcomed the students and staff, congratulating them on the very high standard of their work, which he said would not be out of place at professional exhibitions in the capital.
Dr Rashid, a former student of Bradford Art College, reviewed the work before presenting the students - some of whom were visiting London for the first time - with certificates marking their achievement.
He said: “Art and the arts are key to a rounded education, because they help bring out levels of creativity and awareness that are critical whatever your future career choice.”
Leeds West Academy Principal Annette Hall, said: “It's a great accolade that the work of students at Leeds West Academy has been chosen to be exhibited at the headquarters of our sponsor, E-ACT. We hope the quality of the work will inspire the staff who work in London and remind them of the talents of the students throughout E-ACT academies.”
After meeting E-ACT’s Director General, Sir Bruce Liddington, and enjoying lunch, the students made their way to the National Portrait Gallery in Trafalgar Square.
