E-ACT opens three new academies
E-ACT has opened three new academies after posting record GCSE results for academies that opened last year.
E-ACTspecialises in developing academies that transform opportunities for pupils in the state sector. The social enterprise now sponsors 11 open academies with more in the pipeline.
The new academies - Oldham Academy North, The Winsford E-ACT Academy and Dartmouth Academy – have all been formed with a view to rapidly improving educational outcomes for students in the areas they serve.
This year E-ACT academies delivered, on average, a nine per cent increase in GCSE results for students achieving 5+A*-C including English and Maths.
Sir Bruce Liddington, Director General of E-ACT said: “I’m delighted we've opnened three new academies this September. Our GCSE results demonstrate our ability to make rapid progress, improving schools and setting them on the road to becoming high-performing institutions. We put a lot of emphasis on strong leadership and outstanding teaching. Many of our academies serve communities where too often students have been poorly served in terms of state education. We’re helping to demonstrate that social circumstances should not be a barrier to educational success and opportunity in the 21st Century.”
As well as developing new academies for 2010 and beyond, E-ACT is holding discussions with a range of potential Free Schools who are keen to work with a successful and experienced education provider.
