A News story by Radhika Sharma 15 December 2021

While we’ve all had a very busy one this year, we can all agree that there have been plenty of successes and key milestones to celebrate along the way.

As 2021 draws to a close, we wanted to share just some of the best moments of the year at E-ACT, and we hope you enjoy reflecting on this year as much as we do:

E-ACT was shortlisted for two Tes Schools Awards

In May this year, we were so pleased to have been shortlisted for the Tes Schools Wellbeing and Mental Health Award (for E-ACT Nechells Academy) as well as for Classroom Support Assistant of the Year (for Emma Smythe’s work at E-ACT Parkwood Academy). Read the full story here

Year 6 pupil graduation ceremonies for the first time

We loved seeing our Year 6 pupils celebrating their graduation from primary school ready for the leap into secondary education. Due to lockdown restrictions in 2020, we couldn’t give our Year 6 pupils the goodbye and farewell they deserved, so this year we ensured they left with a proper celebration, including a cap and gown!

Getting together at the National Pupil Celebration Event

We were lucky enough to host our fifth annual National Pupil Celebration Event at the stunning Birmingham Repertory Theatre in July. It was a fun packed day full of performances and award ceremonies in appreciation of the incredible people across the trust. Read more about the winners here

Lord Jim Knight becomes E-ACT’s Chair of the Board of Trustees

In September, we were delighted to welcome Lord Jim Knight as the new Chair of the Board of Trustees. He is currently vice chair of the all-party parliamentary group for the teaching profession. As a government minister, he served as Minister of State for Schools and was a cabinet member. Find out more about Jim here.

National INSET Day volunteering

On Monday 1 November, all staff across E-ACT were given the opportunity to volunteer with a local charity or community group of their choice. It was brilliant to hear such wonderful stories about how colleagues went above and beyond for their communities. Read more here

We hope that you have enjoyed our journey over the last year and we look forward to sharing more good news stories with you in 2022.
