A News story by Radhika Sharma 16 April 2021

Year 6 pupil at Ilminster Avenue E-ACT Academy, Pavani, has received exciting news as she has been accepted into Bristol Grammar School with a scholarship! Pavani is the first ever pupil from Ilminster Avenue, since it became an E-ACT Academy in 2012, to have been offered a place at the prestigious school.

Following her application to the school last year, Pavani attended an interview in October 2020 where she was asked about both her academic achievements, as well as her hobbies and extra-curricular activities.

Pavani then took her entrance exam in January 2021 which included a mathematics exam, comprehension and a written test. As her favourite subject is mathematics, we’re sure that Pavani would have aced that exam! Having successfully completed both the exam and interview, Pavani was offered her scholarship and place at Bristol Grammar school in February 2021.

A proud Bristolian, Pavani has attended Ilminster Avenue since she was in reception. Her parents grew up in India and moved to England, where Pavani and her brother were born and raised.

Before the pandemic, Pavani was a regular and dedicated member of the academy choir, arts and crafts clubs and a member of her class orchestra, where she played the cello. In her spare time at home, Pavani enjoys reading, crochet and drawing.

Pavani expressed how grateful she is to all teachers at Ilminster Avenue for supporting her during her time there, as well as the encouragement she has received from her parents and friends. She is also thankful to her teacher in Year 5 and Year 6, Miss Lockett who really helped with the process of getting into Bristol Grammar School.

We wish Pavani the best of luck and look forward to hearing about her progress.
